Charlie Siem is a graduate of Cambridge University, the Royal College of Music in London and, since 2004, has been mentored by Shlomo Mintz. At only 30 years of age, Charlie is the youngest Professor of music in the UK (Leeds College of Music) and he plays the 1735 Guarneri del Gesù violin, known as the ‘D’Egville’, that was previously owned by Yehudi Menuhin.

The Castlemaine State Festival regrets to advise that the Omega Ensemble is now unable to perform with Charlie Siem as scheduled on Friday 24th March.

We are however delighted to announce that Charlie will now be accompanied by Pianist Ying Ho. Ying has performed extensively throughout Australia, England, Europe and Israel. She studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London with Tatiana Sarkissova, and the Unversitat der Kunste in Berlin with Jacques Rouvier.

Ying has won many competitions including 1st prize at the Kawai Australasian Youth Concerto Competition and the Sydney Conservatorium Concerto Competition. She has worked with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, the Sydney Youth Orchestra, the Western Australian Youth Orchestra and the Kuringai Philharmonic Orchestra.

All ticket enquiries can be directed to the Festival box office – ph: 5472 5123 or in person at the Market Building, Mostyn Street Castlemaine.
