Salon @ Portal Gallery House

Salon @ Portal Gallery House brings together new works by Joel Sorensen, Hilary Finch, and Zoe Amor, with guest artist Laura Vaughan on baroque viola da gamba. Across painting, sculpture, sound and performance, this intimate salon experience blurs the boundary between visual art and live music, turning the gallery into a living, breathing space of resonance. Each artist contributes a unique response to the idea of portals — thresholds between the seen and unseen, the past and present, the material and spiritual. The inclusion of Vaughan’s viola da gamba creates an aural counterpart to these themes, her instrument’s centuries-old timbre vibrating in harmony with the visual textures around it. Audiences – capped at 20 people each session – are invited to linger and listen, to experience the artworks not as static objects but as shifting relationships of colour, sound and air. At its heart, Portal Salon + Gallery House is a meditation on artistic conversation — on what happens when painter, photographer, sculptor and musician occupy the same space and engage their audience in real time.
