All At Once… is a large cane and bamboo installation made up of a taller central domed structure and surrounded by smaller nodes. These will be covered or partially covered in a translucent paper/textile membrane. The whole structure will appear like a biological system or organism and be large enough for visitors to comfortably enter and walk through (wheelchair accessible). Each node structure will be a unique space that tells part of a greater story, taking visitors on a journey from past through to future and instilling strong connection to place. Visitors will begin by traveling through a series of the smaller ‘Past Nodes’. These will represent our rich local history including our unique geology and biodiversity. The visitors will then be surprised as they emerge into the large central dome. This central space will be designed to elicit awe and the feeling of being part of something greater than ourselves. It is the ‘third space’ in between art and science. It is the present, the ‘Now Dome’, and a place where visitors can contribute their thoughts and visions by adding drawings, messages, and small creations to the walls of the installation, or simply rest and ponder the inspirational space. After leaving this central area the visitors will then walk through the ‘Future Nodes’. These represent our potential. Visitors will be prompted to speculate where we are headed and will be encouraged to imagine resilience in dealing with trials the future may hold. What will future technology, art, community or the environment look like? The aim is to leave with a feeling of discovery and hope.
