a [what] of unicorns a [what] of rhinos?
A BLESSING and a CRASH!
Yes really…. But what else COULD a group of unicorns be called?!
If you actually knew the answer to that, please stay home on the 2nd August when the Board of the Castlemaine State Festival hosts their TRIVIA night, because you are clearly TOO SMART and I don’t need the competition. Seriously. The prizes are going to be awesome, and I want to be in with a chance…
Hope to see you there.

OPEN STUDIOS & EXHIBITIONS
We have just emailed everyone who has requested a form to advertise their open studio or exhibition in the 2015 program.
If you are interested in having a studio over the 2015 festival, send an email to:
firstname.lastname@example.org and we will email you the form.
If you haven’t already heard us banging our own drum, 2015 is our 40th year anniversary and 20thfestival, and between you are I, we are planning on it being quite a big deal, so if you are a local artist this is a great opportunity to be involved in this historical event.
Forms are also available to download on our website: www.castlemainefestival.com.au
SECRETS & LIES
I don’t want you to always rely on the fact that I’m going to bring you secrets about the festival, and behind the scenes news on what’s going on, but the truth of the matter is I am. So long as you don’t tell EVERYONE.
Keep it between you, me, and 2- 5 BEST friends only. BEST friends. Not strangers mind. No one likes an idol gossip.
I would like to write this in code, except I don’t know any.
We are absolutely delighted to be welcoming artists from Cuba to join us as a part of both the Visual Arts and Music Mentorships – Regimes of Worth & the Dominique Segan Emerging Artist Mentorship.
These mentorship will bring inspiring visual and performing artists from Cuba together with over 700 students from the Castlemaine Secondary College to work together in chaos, love and harmony!
Scrambled message: something about opening night…
Pip.. Pip someone? Maybe Pip Avent, long time festival musician…
there’s some laugher & someone saying something that sounds like “so much for his retirement”
I can’t really make out any more than that, it’s just word on the street….
PATRONS & FRIENDS EVENT
Thanks to the friends and patrons who joined us at our recent event where we welcomed His Excellency the Cuban Ambassador to Australia Pedro Monzon to Castlemaine to join us for a few songs and some dancing.
If you would like to be invited to these events, please join our Patrons Program by emailing Val Victor Gordon: email@example.com
or the friends: firstname.lastname@example.org
We are almost, but not quite, but I-think-its-already-happened-so-we-best-get-a-move-on ready to start the call out for 2015 volunteers.
More on this later, but if you are an eager beaver who would like to get in early and do all the super loooong lead jobs please send an email to: email@example.com
OZCO FUNDING CONFIRMED!
You may have read in the news that the festival has received the outstanding news that it had been successful in receiving funding from the Australian Council for the Arts for the next three festivals. This funding will help support the creation of work inspired by the community and culture of the central Victoria.
SO LET’S GET CULTURAL!
And I expect to see that as a flash-dance to Olivia Newtown-John’s ‘Let’s Get Physical’ at the next festival people.
Talk to us
And, most importantly,
See you at the Festival!

THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS
We are thrilled to announce that Genevieve Cantwell on behalf of her team from Cantwell Property Castlemaine, has again generously committed to sponsor the 2015 Castlemaine State Festival. In these economic times, it is wonderful that a local business enthusiastically supports the arts in our community.
