Castlemaine State Festival presents

Finding Fanny Finch

Be transported back to the goldfields of Castlemaine through the eyes of Fanny Finch. The shrewd businesswoman, from London and of African heritage, arrived here in 1852 as a sly grogger and found notoriety as one of the first women to vote in Australia. But it was not her first defiant blow against patriarchy, and certainly not her last. Finding Fanny Finch blends music and theatre, and is based on the research of local historian Kacey Sinclair, acted by descendants of Finch: Bill Garner and his daughter Alice.

Immensely enjoyable…with wonderful acting, fine writing and a fascinating subject, this play is as entertaining as it is enlightening. – The Age
