Carol Swain is a visual Artist based in Castlemaine.
Swain completed a Master of Contemporary Art 2012 at Victorian College of the Arts and a Post Graduate Diploma of Visual Art at VCA in 2011. Swain has shown her work in solo and group exhibitions in Melbourne. She works predominately in the medium of oil painting but also has a background in printmaking.
Swain explores images through the language of abstraction and colour which act as a vehicle between Swain’s response to the natural environment and her connection to space and shape.
‘Memory can be a repository of images and feelings, which can be triggered through a seemingly unrelated incident, a flicker of movement in perception, a blurring of a moment in time; layered areas within, suddenly arising from an outside influence, create an internal interruption.’
Memories currently on display at The Taproom, 5A/9 Walker St. Castlemaine.
