Born in 1936, Wykeham Perry is a mainly self-taught artist. Although developing a definite style of his own, he admired and was influenced by the works of artists like Arthur Streeton, Elioth Gruner, Robert Johnson and Rubery Bennett.
Wykeham has held many solo shows, including shows at the VAS gallery and the Mentone, Sorrento and Malvern galleries.
Perry is an exhibiting member of the Victorian Artists Society, and a member of the Australian Guild Of Realist Artists. He is regularly invited to judge at art shows and to give oil painting demonstrations.
Between 1972 and 2003 he won first prize in practically every major Australian Realist Art Show, including the Wangaratta, Corio, Marysville, Mansfield and Alexander Rotary, Oakleigh City, Camberwell Rotary, Knox City, and Kew Rotary Awards.
In 1990 his works were included in a book published by the Australian Rotary Society, featuring 70 living Australian realist artists. Since 1980 his paintings have regularly been reproduced on corporate art calendars and greetings cards.
Works are held in many private collections in Australia and overseas.
