Charismatic jazz pianist, improviser and educator Steve Sedergreen has made a vital and indelible imprint on the Australian jazz scene, with his exceptional improvisational sensibility that is true to the spirit of jazz.

During 2015, Steve Sedergreen is undertaking a major composition project entitled The Art & Beauty of Deep Listening. This Aboriginal concept translates as ‘deep and respectful listening which builds community’. The intent of this project is to create a folio of solo piano, small ensemble and orchestral compositions grounded in the deep listening process. Steve will perform with his treasured collaborators, drummer Michael Jordan and Castlemaine didgeridoo player Ron Murray.

‘…musical moments that are as engaging for audiences as they are for the players;
moments in which you listen so intently you
forget everything, even forgetting
to breathe. It’s music overflowing with emotion. It’s art.’

Derek Guille, music lover and former ABC radio broadcaster
