2013 Festival Identity
Jilli Rose is a Castlemaine-based animator using computers as her primary tool, in her – often science-inspired – art and design work. Jilli was inspired by the festival theme “elemental” to explore some of the building blocks of life; microorganisms, cells and atoms, finally arriving at this image inspired by diatoms, minerals and sea ice in the Southern Ocean.
“I wanted to speak about how energy accretes around artistic collaborations, how they bustle and vibrate and are contained and shaped by forces we can’t really quantify or fully know. Festivals are mysterious organisms, and it has been interesting and wonderful to be a part of this one.”
