Til the Black Lady Sings

Renowned soprano and composer Deborah Cheetham will hold you captive as she weaves her own story about growing up in the 1970s with no Indigenous role models, her dream of becoming an opera star and her journey of discovery and belonging.

Building on her acclaimed works, White Baptist Abba Fan and Pecan Summer, Til the Black Lady Sings is storytelling at its most personal and intimate. Music by Catalani, Cilea, Dvořák, Puccini, Richard Strauss, Vaughan Williams and Deborah Cheetham. Accompanied by pianist Toni Lalich.

‘The range and depth of Cheetham’s soprano voice is impressive —
but this is one concert that seemed to hit the heights throughout!’
