In 2016 two Victorian men, art restorer Mohamed Aman Siddique, and art dealer Peter Stanley Gant, were convicted of creating and selling fake “Brett Whiteley” paintings for millions of dollars. A year later, theywere sensationally acquitted, and the paintings returned to their owners.
