Writers Across Borders

Han Yujoo, Ali Cobby Eckermann, Rajith Savanadasa, Michele Lee and Andy Butler.

This dynamic session sees writers from the innovative WrICE Program riff on the real stuff of writing and culture. South Korean novelist Han Yujoo, Australian Aboriginal writer Ali Cobby Eckermann and Sri Lankan-Australian novelist Rajith Savanadasa and Asian-Australian playwrite Michele Lee talk about where they connect and differ, and the passions that drive their work. The session will be moderated by Filipino-Australian writer, artist and curator Andy Butler. RMIT University’s WrICE program brings together a new group of five Australian and five Asia-Pacific writers each year for a face-to-face collaborative residency in Asia followed by a reciprocal event in Melbourne, Australia. Founded in 2013 and presented by RMIT with support from the Copyright Agency Cultural Fund, WrICE contributes to an Asia-Pacific community of writers, sparking networks and connections and raising the professional profile of writers across the region.
