The 2017 Mentorship brings award-winning UK choreographer Robby Graham and the Australian National Academy of Music, together with students of the Castlemaine Secondary College to shape and create spectacular Festival Opening Night music, dance and theatre.
Robby Graham
Award-winning hip hop choreographer Robby Graham joins the 2017 Castlemaine State Festival as one of a number of internationally respected artists and mentors working with students at the Castlemaine Secondary College. Robby is working to create a thought-provoking and spectacular dance theatre work for the Festival’s Opening Night public performance. He is well known for creating dance theatre in which he combines elements of breaking, contemporary and contact work, to form what has been described as ‘release breaking’.
The Castlemaine State Festival is delighted to welcome Robby Graham, who is assisted with support from the British Council and the Arts Council of England, through the ‘Artists International Development Fund’.
“Witty, hard‐edged, sure in focus, and sizzling in energy,”
