The Garden Party is a much-loved Festival tradition bringing together the entire community for an entertaining day awash with puppets and poetry, laughter and song, tumblers and tricks, cheeky acts and acrobats.

Set in one of Victoria’s most beautiful and historic Botanical Gardens, this relaxed and family-friendly event includes multiple stages, roving artists and workshops by outstanding central Victorian and international artists, the Castlemaine Artists’ and Farmers’ Markets and a wide array of regional creativity, produce and scrumptious food stalls.

The Garden Party has something for everyone.

Bring your picnic rug or collect your free DON picnic rug on the day and kick back amongst friends and family.

In addition to the line-up of national and international performing artists, two feature performances created by local artists include Singing the Dreamboat Home (Suzanne Donisthorpe, Frank Veldze and Geoffrey Williams and the Tara Choir) and Tarrengower and Lalgambook: A Jarra Jarra Teaching (Samantha Bews, Thais Sanson and Joseph Bromley). Narration by Uncle Rick Nelson, local elder, traditional owner and descendant of the Jaara people.
