Date: Wednesday 18th & Thursday 19th January
Time: 10am-3pm
Cost: $30*
* After the Summer School, there will be a series of weekly workshops during term 1, which are free of charge.
Join Creative Learning Producer Kate Stones, and local media professionals for two amazing days of digital media discovery. The Youth Media Summer School will prepare participants to work on the Castlemaine Festival, 24 March- 9 April 2023, with opportunities to create promotional content, interview artists, review events and create a conversation about culture.
On day 1 we explore the Festival 2023 Program, learn interview techniques, develop our opinions and express them in written and/or spoken words.
Day 2 includes hands-on experience with camera, lights and sound equipment, creating content that will be used to promote the Youth Media Team and the Castlemaine State Festival.
WHO IS THE YMT?
The Youth Media Team is a group of young people aged 13-25 who, each Festival, start a conversation about culture in our town and beyond, from their unique perspective. They attend events, document them, preview, review, and interview the artists and each other. The material they generate is featured on our socials throughout the Festival, and on 94.9 MAINfm. The YMT are mentored and supported by local media professionals. In the lead up to the Festival, they learn valuable skills including photography, video, editing, writing and interview technique.
