Castlemaine State Festival presents

INSIDE OUT Castlemaine

This year marks a decade since French street artist JR launched his ‘people’s art project’, Inside Out. To participate, people from anywhere across the world organise a Group Action to communicate a common message through black and white self-portraits of the group’s participants. More than 362,000 people in 142 countries have taken part and now it’s our turn.

Castlemaine’s group action will focus on hope in the wake of the pandemic. It will be split across three community groups: The Future (toddlers 18 months to three years); The Bridge (Castlemaine Secondary School students) and Right Now (the general public). Each group’s portraits will be on display at key sites in Castlemaine.

I wish for you to stand up for what you care about by participating in a global art project, and together we’ll turn the world inside out. And this starts right now.’. – JR
