Castlemaine State Festival presents

Traversing the Northern Plains

Wide Open Road Art – Susie Elliott & Helen Mathwin

In 1841 the first squatters moved into the central and northern plains of Victoria with the intention of making a home. Nearly 180 years later the concepts of home and connection to landscape are problematic. Traversing The Northern Plains is a durational installation by Susie Elliott and Helen Mathwin, which will unfold over the course of the Festival. The work seeks to explore evolving assumptions about inhabiting a landscape.

There will be two performances set alongside this installation on two dates 20 and 27 March between 12-1 pm

This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through the Australia Council for the Arts, its arts funding and advisory body.
