Castlemaine State Festival presents

Café Cantata

This original musical theatre performance explores unrealised ambition and second chances with poignancy and humour. It follows Lieschen, a pianist in a café who has a once-in-a-lifetime chance to sing in Paris – but at a cost. Café Cantata is written and directed by Mark Penzak with musical composition and performance by Andrée Cozens, both Castlemaine locals. It was written in response to Bach’s 1735 mini-opera Coffee Cantata, and as such, we strongly encourage you to watch with a coffee in hand.
